What to expect

A Discovery Session is a complimentary first step for new families. It usually takes about 45 minutes and combines a short parent conversation with guided musical interaction so a trained Claviera educator can recommend an appropriate next step. It is not an audition, a full lesson, or a trial lesson, and no special preparation is required.

Welcome

A short conversation helps the educator understand your child's interests and previous experience.

Guided musical interaction

Your child can respond through age-appropriate listening, rhythm, singing, movement, or instrument exploration.

Recommendation

The educator shares an appropriate starting point and explains whether a trial class or further assessment is useful.

No special preparation is needed. If your child has previous musical experience, you are welcome to bring a current music book or share a recent performance video. We will let you know in advance if there is anything specific to bring.

Discovery Sessions are normally conducted in person. Online sessions may be arranged when appropriate.

The educator will share a recommended starting point and answer your questions. Where appropriate, our team will follow up with a concise written summary and the next recommended step.
