Children can begin with Claviera Petite from ages 0-5 through parent-child music experiences. From age five, Claviera recommends Petite or Claviera School according to the child's readiness, independence, interests, and experience.
Age five is a transition stage. Some children are ready for the more structured instrumental and ensemble pathways of Claviera School, while others benefit from continuing in Petite's broader early-years musical environment. Placement reflects the child rather than suggesting that one pathway is ahead of the other.
Claviera Petite is for ages 0-5 and centres parent-child participation, rhythm, movement, listening, and early musical connection. Claviera School is for ages 5+ and supports structured instrumental and ensemble learning. Claviera Music is the wider platform for shared artistic and stage experiences rather than a third age pathway.
A Discovery Session is a complimentary first step for new families. It usually takes about 45 minutes and combines a short parent conversation with guided musical interaction so a trained Claviera educator can recommend an appropriate next step. It is not an audition, a full lesson, or a trial lesson, and no special preparation is required. Discovery Sessions are normally conducted in person. Online sessions may be arranged when appropriate.
